How Authentic Networking Affects Your Business
Brandi Mueller and Leighton Smith invite you to join them as they share ways to unlock meaningful relationships and nurture your network. They will cover:
- Highlight general practices of how to be a high achiever in the networking trade
- Translate the art of being effective and authentic with your intention
- Provide real examples of how we exercise our skill of networking
LISTEN
- What does this person enjoy? What challenges may she be facing? What is of greatest value to her? (Not ‘What can she do for me?’)
- Listen more. Lead through vulnerability. Ask great questions.
- Be interested, not interesting.
GIVE
- How can I help this person?
- Hygiene matters. You can help or encourage every person you encounter. Make it a life practice.
- Give until it hurts, and find your people.
CONNECT
- Now that I understand this person’s interests, challenges and passions, who else may be able to help? Who else shares these challenges or passions?
- We all can create value through thoughtful introductions.
- Master the art of an honest introduction.
CARE
- There is no substitute for caring for others as human beings.
- Empathy, vulnerability, honesty
- People don’t care what you think (or can offer them) until they know that you care.
BE RESOURCEFUL
- If the story resonated, here are follow up resources:
- The Go Giver By: Bob Burg and John D. Mann
- It’s Not Just Who You Know By: Tommy Spaulding
- Never Eat Alone By: Keith Ferrazzi
- Give and Take By: Adam Grant
Things to think about before your next networking event:
- What do you enjoy?
- What 5 adjectives best describe you and why?
- What is a current project you are working on?
- What is the best thing that has happened to you this week?
- When was the last time you laughed hard?
- How can your experience or influence help your next contact?
